Each county is distinct from the next, making it, in my opinion, the greatest travel destination. It’s a road trip lover’s dream because you may enjoy such a diverse range of experiences.

There are some fantastic hotels along the road. With premium hotels and what I refer to as “destination hotels,” this portion of California has taken lodging to the next level. They’re the kinds of retreats you’d plan for a honeymoon, an anniversary trip (like these Valentine getaways in Northern California), or even a weekend break.

So, after touring the majority of the coast inn of north, I’m offering my recommendations. I’ve stayed at most of them, and a handful is still on my bucket list.

It is, without a doubt, the best hotel on the coast inn of north. The Post Ranch Inn, which has won multiple honors for service, luxury suites, and great dining, would be a dream to stay there.

With the highest price tag on the list, it would undoubtedly be a bucket list excursion.

2. Ventana Inn, Big Sur

The Ventana Inn, with ocean views, is a luxury resort situated in the center of Big Sur, one of the most beautiful destinations along the coast.

During the summer, they also set up deluxe glamping tents for guests to stay in, giving you the sense of camping but with the amenities of a five-star hotel.

3. L’Auberge, Carmel

The town of Carmel is a little further up the coast. The famous and iconic L’Auberge hotel is located in the middle of it all.

4. Dream Inn, Santa Cruz

There is no better site for surfers to ride the waves than Santa Cruz. It’s a great pit break along the coast, and the Dream Inn is a comfortable place to stay.

5. The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

This is just 45 minutes away from San Francisco for those seeking a fast weekend vacation! Those who enjoy golf will enjoy it even more.

The Ritz-Carlton offers a magnificent property with a spa and golf course right on the beach. Also, for around the firepit, try out the marshmallow kit.

6. Cavallo Point Lodge, Sausalito

Cavallo Point Lodge is one of our favorite weekend getaways near San Francisco because it is one of those tucked-away beauties. The Golden Gate Bridge and the city are visible from the hotel.

One of the highlights is their recently renovated spa, where you’ll want to make a reservation ahead of time. Their brunch on the patio is also not to be missed.

7. Nick’s Cove, Point Reyes Station

Staying here for a night, with absolutely smitten with the cute waterside cabins. The in-room breakfast, which is provided in a picnic basket, is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the trip.

8. Bodega Bay Lodge, Bodega Bay

Bodega Bay is a beloved childhood film. It’s a fishing town and a fantastic beach resort that’s right on the water’s edge. The Bodega Bay Lodge, located on the Sonoma Coast, is an excellent choice for a luxurious vacation in this area.

Spend your days at the beach, exploring the quaint town, and feasting on delectable chowders and crab rolls!

9. Timber Cove Resort, Jenner/Timber Cove

What a beautiful location on the northern coast. It’s one of our favorite design hotels, and it’s right on the water. The cuisine is simply outstanding.

The Timber Cove Resort is a great place to stay if you want to get away from the crowds while yet being close to coastal hikes and wineries in the Guerneville area.

10. Harbor House Inn, Elk (Mendocino County)

The Harbor House Inn has various claims to fame, including being named one of the top hotels in the area. The rebuilt hotel is, first and foremost, a fantasy. The service and décor are both excellent.

The second incentive to go is to dine at their Michelin-starred restaurant. You can stay here for two nights, eat at least once, and take in the sights.

11. Brewery Gulch Inn, Mendocino

The coastline expands dramatically as you travel further into Mendocino County. The Brewery Gulch Inn is located just off Highway 1 and is surrounded by pine trees and rolling hills. Its rooms are warm and inviting, with the majority of them featuring fireplaces.

12. Glendeven Inn & Lodge

The Glendeven Inn is one of my favorite Mendocino hotels. This inn, which is both rustic and attractive, is located off the main road and boasts partial ocean views.

Llamas and even their own chickens reside on the property, and the eggs are used for a fresh breakfast served in your room! This is a great place to stay while visiting Mendocino.

13. Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn, Trinidad

There’s a lot to see and do here, and you can get a flavor of Humboldt County in just a few days. This hotel is well-liked for its convenient location and meticulous attention to detail. Most of the Redwood Coast is reasonably accessible, and it makes for a delightful visit.
